Every season fashion stylists, designers and florists promote trends that are important for several months. They are a result of careful observations, search and thinking. It has been noticed lately that modern technology and tools such as MSN, e-mails, mobiles and text messages make communication easier and they are used to emphasise one’s own individuality. People search for their individuality and they attempt to stand out from the crowd.

The summer tendency "Talking Flowers" showed how you may feel unique and express your thoughts and feelings without words but using flowers only. Flowers, such as a rose being popular this summer, have their own history, language and symbolism, and they are a necessary means of expression as stylist say.

Expressing yourself through flowers is the leading notion of the summer tendency.
Arrangements have a simple form. Colours of the composition are import ant, since they emphasise interests and character of a person that they surround. Neutral colours are dominating interspersed with warm bright summer colours. You may find there fresh and joyful blue, orange, yellow, green, pink and red colours. This summer stylists go for unusual combinations, they use a whole range of various natural materials such as wood and stones. There is only one condition – they must be associated with something personal. Pots are of a secondary role this season, since this is flowers that show what we are like and they express our emotions.

Summer compositions are coherent and very often are an element of our outfit, sometimes are worn as jewellery or scarves: on your neck, back, arms, in your ears or hand.

Just like every season, there are three styles: modern, romantic, and classical.

Rose (Rosa): It expresses every emotion. Roses are great to express feelings and emotions. Lilly of the valley (Convallaria): It predicts summer approaching.

Triteleia (Triteleia): Beautifully bloomed.

 Covered with lots of petals triteleia is an interesting contrast for a rose. Its delicate flowers are big enough to seem to move around. Tritelaia is beautiful from every side.

Gloriosa (Goriosa): Unusual shape.

Gloriosa is another design miracle. Although its inflorescence seems to be delicate, in fact it gives strength. Its combination with a rose emphasises gloriosa’ s uniqueness, and adds a bunch unbelievable character with a specific message.

Cornflower (Centaurea): Freshly picked.

Cornflower seems to be picked in the field. In reality, they require special care during production process. This summer this blue flower has a special message. Blue flowers are available for sale only in summer so if you see them at the florist’s you may be certain that summer has come.

Craspedia (Craspedia): In a proper tone.

With their surprising round shape and strong yellow colour, craspeida gives tone and underlines the character of a bunch of flowers. They seem to be in harmony with music and give rhythm to flower compositions. When you listen into it, you might hear surprising sounds.

A hyacinth is a beautiful decorative plant which will make every woman happy on her day due to its fascinating scent. Its unusual fresh scent will make you recall holiday memories, and its bright colour will be combined with every interior in any style.

White or pastel shades will help you to create subtle and romantic atmosphere, whereas intensive pink and shouting blue are ideal to make the interior more vivid.
A hyacinth has a very effective bulb and root, therefore you may achieve an interesting decorative effect if you clear it and place it in a transparent glass pot.
A hyacinth consists of several minor bulbs, usually from 4 to 7. Each bulb forms a stem and flowers. Flowers are quite small but together they create basic blossoms.  

In spring you may place a hyacinth in a pot on the balcony or to plant it in a garden.  In low temperatures outside hyacinths will bloom longer guaranteeing their owners maximum pleasure.

Hyacinth is a Latin equivalent of a Greek word Huakinthis, i.e. a name of a man that was a friend of Apollo, a mythical sun god. The boy was fatally wounded during an attempt to capture a disc, and a plant stemmed from his blood, which Apollo named after his friend.

Spring – Flower inspirations „Colourful Grey”

This year designers, stylists and florists are looking for harmony in the surrounding world. The style that will be dominating is full of peace and simplicity.

Fashion for contrasting motives, colours and materials is gone, and it has been replaced by harmonic grey, with its delicate face and peace.

This peace and quiet is observed also in flower compositions proposed for the spring. This season flowers play a predominant role since it is their unique colours that make grey more vivid and they gain attractiveness this way,

The range of spring colours is composed of quiet grey, but also red, orange, violet, and bright pink accents. However, if possible, one or two colours is used in compositions. Patterns occur rarely. Grey is best manifested in natural materials of simple structure. These elements gives you a possibility to create lots of exciting combinations, such as combining rough wood with transparent colourful glass, natural stones and fleece, or simple dishes with sophisticated ceramics. Forms are quiet, consistent and transparent and grey forms background for strong colours.

This trend is best  expressed with words such as consistent, simple, clear and coherent.

Colourful grey may be interpreter in many ways. Modern interiors are characterised by simplicity of line and contrasts. Various shades of grey are dominating and they are combined with strong accents. This modern style is best expressed with words  power, balance, cohesion, design.
Romantic interiors are full of soft materials and simple accessories combined with charming colourful elements. Warm grey is mixed with colourful accessories and flowers. These interiors are full of peace and quiet, warmth and harmony..
Classical interiors are full of nostalgia and are characterised by elegant forms.  Rich and warm shades are predominating. Simplicity, naturalness and classical shapes are dominating in these interiors.

A gerbera is a flower that is well set in the spring trend. Due to its simple form, large range of shades and colours it is ideal for this trend. A fashionable flower is also narcissus, golden rod, buttercup, cantedescia and hyacinth.
Additionally, the following are used in compositions: lilac, flox, forsythia, molucella and ornithogalum.

The most fashionable flowers „Colourful Grey” – spring

Gerbera (Gerbera) – Spontaneous and naive .Gerbera is a simple flower on solid stem.  Its naive look and simple shape make it very influential. There are new species of this charming flower appearing on the market constantly, e.g. with sharp pr curved petals looking like a noodle (“Pasta” species) Gerbera is available in various colours and it also creates wonderful atmosphere. It is powerful and spontaneous.

Narcissus (Narcissus) – Happy spring herald.
Narcissues is one of the truest spring heralds. Together with other spring flower sit helps the nature to restore its beautiful colours. This is the time when we decide to stay outside a lot, the air temperature is getting higher and summer is approaching rapidly. Just like gerbera, a narcissus has a strong stem. Flowers in a shape of trumpets form an interesting contrast with a flat gerbera flower.

Golden rod (Solidago) – abundant with blossoms
Its interesting form and abundance of yellow blossoms make Soldago an ideal completion or base for many bunches of flowers. In simple composition it may be used to make an interesting coherent form. It creates a modern composition full of interesting contrasts.

Buttercup (Ranunculus) – Shape and colour
Just like gerbera, buttercups occur in various colours. This typically spring, simple and round inflorescence adds charm to each composition. A combination of round inflorescence with open flat gerbera flower creates a very interesting effect. By combining flowers of the same colour you may obtain an interesting arrangement of unique structure and contrasting forms.

Zantedeschia (Zantedeschia) – Strict but full of grace
On the contrary to other flowers for this season zantedeschia is not a typically spring flower. With its gracious closed funnels the flower is available all year round.  New species of zantedeschia appear on the market in new colours; however, a unique line of this flower remains unchanged. Its string lines are best presented in simple compositions.

Hyacinth (Hyacinths) – Smelly and colourful
Hyacinth allows us  not only to see the spring, but also scent it. Its charming scent and interesting shape make it wonderfully contrast with a simple gerbera. Both flowers, although so different, are perfectly complimentary.

„Floral Empire”

 Floral Council of Holland presents the leading floral trends for winter.

Each season there are new colours and accessories. Fashion changes very often, both in outfits, interior design and floristics.  Stylists are often inspired by fashion of previous eras - antique, baroque, or classicism.  
In the approaching Winter season, in the trend called the Floral Empire  It is dominated by motives stylized as accessories of previous centuries.

This winter shapes and forms are pretty majestic, explicit and elegant, and symmetry and rhythm play an important role here. Florists are inspired by baroque wigs and sculptures. Lots of symbols of colonies appear, such as insignia, rosettes, chalices, or busts. Compositions are placed in vessels in a shape of chalices or cups.
Clear colours are dominating, lots of grey, white and black. Also, there are interlaid pink, violet, red and green colours. Silver and grey-and-green accents are introduced to create an effective composition. Florists sprinkle green colours with white to make it look more sophisticated.
This winter plain natural accessories are fashionable, such as stones, marble and delicate and sophisticated velvet or smooth leather. Also decorative elements such as ribbons or draperies are added to bunch.

Three basic styles – modern, romantic and classical are interpreted in various manners. In the modern style frills are quite rapacious and lace have a new look.  Also here you meet geometry and contrast. The key words are trophy, triumph, explicit and elegance. In the classical style all draperies and ribbons are used in its traditional form.  Warm colours are dominating.  The key words are neoclassicism, sculpture, draperies, cameo, imperial.
The romantic style combines the features of the two previous ones: traditional shapes with a peck of modernity, full of joyful and colourful combinations. The key words are historic, romantic, charming and delicate. Reference to the times of Napoleon and Marie-Antoinette is clear.

The most fashionable flowers this winter are: hippeastrum (Hippeastrum), buttercup (Ranunculus), carnation (Dianthus), nerina (Nerine), rose (Rosa) and zantedeschia (Zantedeschia).

Florists use leaves of aspidistra (Aspidistry) and eucalyptus (Eucalyptus), gypsophila (Gypsophila) and box (Buxus) as well as  eustoma (Eustoma), hyacinth (Hyacinths), iris (Iris), lily (Lilium), tuberose (Polianthes) and a stock (Matthiola).

The most fashionable flowers – winter

HIPPEASTRUM (HIPPEASTRUM): FASCINATING BEAUTY.

In many countries hippeastrum is a seasonal flower occurring mainly during Christmas.  Once you could meet it in red only, now it is available in white, orange, salmon pink, violet and mixed colours. Hippeastrum symbolizes fascinating beauty. Its majestic stem, strong lines of the flower look like fanfare sounding to the glory of victory.

BUTTERCUP (RANUNCULUS): ROMANTIC ROUND.

This romantic flower of round inflorescence comes from Asia, where it occurs in 400 species. Most of them are yellow or white but you may also find them in pink, orange, red and double-colour. One of new species is black and is called Black Jack. Their interesting shape makes it easy to use them in bunches.
